It seems that the downturn in live bingo throughout the UK is spreading far and wide with yet another bingo hall closing its doors for the final time. Bingo players in Criccieth, Wales intend to switch to online bingo after it was announced that there local club will close to due financial reasons.
The club has been in operation for over 30 years with games being played every Wednesday. Many of the regulars of the Criccieth bingo hall were reduced to tears when the news was announced.
UK live bingo has been hit hard over recent years with many blaming the smoking ban which forbids smoking in enclosed areas. Many though feel that the economic slowdown during the last few years plus of course the rise of online bingo are the main contributing factors. Even the main live bingo operators such as Mecca and Gala have been forced to close bingo halls throughout the UK during the last few years.
Online bingo is now firmly established in the UK and bingo players now realise that they can play for bigger prize pools online than in their local bingo hall. Of course playing online bingo is much cheaper than travelling to an online hall as there are no travel costs plus of course no extra costs for food and drink.
Mecca and Gala have simply disposed of the clubs which failed to produce during the tough economic times of the last few years, and now have returned their live bingo halls to profit. Some of the smaller live bingo operators look set to announce closures within the next few months.
