Rutherglen is the latest place that is showing that its local people have more talent than anyone realized by holding a ‘Rutherglen’s Got Talent’ contest in the latest round of the Mecca nationwide search.
Mecca Bingo is holding these competitions across the country much like the TV programme. They invite any local singer to come along to show what they can do and the winner will go through to further rounds at later dates.
It was Kellie Stevenson who beat all the other contestants to the prize when she gave a sizzling performance of Proud Mary by Tina Turner. Other acts on the night included those who performed songs by artists like Lady Gaga and the King himself, Elvis Presley.
The general manager commented that all the acts had performed very well and that she did not realize the talent that the local people had. It gave fellow bingo players a great evening of entertainment and a fantastic night was had by all.
Kellie has received two tickets for the Britain’s Got Talent Live Tour 2011 and she will also be invited to perform at the regional semi finals which will take place on May 27 in Drumchapel.
Those who come through all the heats will be expected to perform at the finals on July 16 which will be in the Mecca Bingo in the Midlands. Renowned TV star Lorraine Kelly will be hosting the show and Kellie will join all the other contestants if she can get through the next round.
This is a great opportunity for singers who may never know how far they can go so taking part is a must. On offer for the winner is a five thousand pounds prize, along with a contract for one year with the entertainment agency, Stagepalm.
Mecca Bingo started staging this event some time back so that local talent could come to the fore. Not only did this give them a great opportunity to perform in public, it also gave them something to aim for with the cash prize. If they are successful in winning the competition, they may well go on to fame and fortune with the agency that takes them on too. However, even those that do not manage to win may well be spotted by talent scouts who come along to the events.
This is surely a way to give people a chance at success, entertain the players, and perhaps set someone on a new career path, and all due to Mecca Bingo!
